Getting divorced or separated? Don’t forget to arrange your pension!
There is a lot to deal with when going through a divorce or separation. From making agreements about the children and dividing up your belongings to moving to a new home. Separations also affect your pension. That is why it is important to make clear agreements about your pension. And to communicate these agreements to us!
It is important to arrange a few things with us right away if you are going through a separation.
- Let us know if you want us to pay pension to your ex-partner.
- Notify us within 2 years of an alternative division of your pension.
- Deregister your ex-partner with us.(only if you were cohabiting and had previously entered into a cohabitation agreement, or if the separation or termination of the registered partnership happened outside of the Netherlands). Married and/or divorced outside the Netherlands? Send us additional documents.
Are you separating after living together without a cohabitation agreement? Then no action is necessary.
Are you and your (ex) partner separating without a cohabitation agreement? And is your ex-partner therefore not registered with us? Then this will not affect your pension. You will keep your retirement pension and your ex-partner is not entitled to a survivor’s pension from us.
