Voting and engaging in dialogue for positive change
We invest your pension for the long term and do this responsibly. Our aim is to get you the best return for your pension and also to encourage corporate social responsibility. We believe that responsible investment and a good pension go hand in hand.
We invest with positive energy
To us, positive energy means investing responsibly: for you and for the world. So, our investment choices are never just financially driven but also take the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) factors of an investment into consideration. This is because ESG factors influence the investment risk and result of every asset class. The energy transition, climate and gender equality influence our investment choices too. Research shows that these subjects are important to participants. Naturally, we also want our participants to retire with good pensions.
If we see irresponsible business practices in any of the companies in our investment portfolio, we bring them to their attention. We do this in various ways, e.g. via open dialogue and in the way we vote at their shareholders' meetings.
We engage in talks with the companies we invest in
We are an active shareholder. In other words, we engage in dialogue with companies about their policies and activities if we feel they aren’t prioritising the environment and society as much as they should be. We also encourage companies to make improvements on specific subjects. These are long-term processes in which we partner up with other investors. Engagement enables us to make an impact and bring about positive change. See our newsletter for 2 examples of the results we have achieved
We use our right to vote
We invest a part of your pension in shares. This makes us shareholders and gives us voting rights. Our voting rights make it possible for us to influence the resolutions adopted at shareholders’ meetings. When casting our votes, we look carefully at whether companies care about the environment and society and at how employees are treated as well. We also want to see sufficient diversity on the boards of the companies in which we invest.
